Entry requirements:

In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.

This Master's course is intended for Graduates in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering. However, other degrees will also be taken into account provided that the student meets the following requirements:

  • Have a general knowledge on the different fields of chemistry and an adequate training in the use of laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Have a basic knowledge on Mathematics and Physics.

Study mode: Attendance required

Schedule: Monday to Friday from 4:00pm to 7:30pm.

The students of this Master's Degree will gain different competences depending on the study track they choose:

  • Students who have chosen an academic-research study track will acquire an advanced training in the field of organic and inorganic chemistry that will enable them to access the field of chemical research. This will position them in an optimal place to develop research activities which will lead them either to the preparation of a PhD Thesis or to their incorporation into the R&D and innovation departments of both private and public bodies.
  • Students who have chosen and academic-professional study track will be provided with an advanced training in the field of organic and inorganic chemistry due to the fact that they will have taken the Advanced Chemistry module. They will also be provided with a professional orientated training due to the fact that they will have taken the required optional subjects, which are professional-orientated and the internship that will give them access to jobs in chemical and pharmaceutical companies as highly qualified professionals.

This Master's course is divided into the following modules according to the characteristics of each subject:

  • Module 1: Advanced Chemistry (21 ECTS)
  • Module 2: Molecule, Solids and Surface Characterization (15 ECTS)
  • Module 3: Chemical Industry (24 ECTS)
  • Module 4: Present and Future of Chemistry (24 ECTS)
  • Module 5: Introduction to Research (12 ECTS)

MODULE 2: Molecule, Solids and Surfaces Characterization Techniques

MODULE 3: Chemical Industry

  • Present and Future of Chemical Industry in the context of Sustainable Development (3 ECTS)

  • Organic Synthesis (6 ECTS)

MANDATORY SUBJECTS

  • Master's Thesis

To complete the Master's course the student will have to complete:

  • 12 mandatory credits.
  • 18 optional credits to choose from the 54 offered
  • and 12 credits corresponding to the Master's Thesis.
