This Master's Degree meets the demands of both, research institutions and public administrations as well as NGOs and private companies, and provides a specialized knowledge and training in gender issues. This degree is based on a PhD programme that bears the Quality Award from the National Agency for Quality Assessment from 2005 and has been awarded the "Mención hacia la excelencia" distinction by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science on 2011.

This Master's Course in Gender and Diversity offers two approaches, academic and professional, which offer an advanced and systematic training on concepts, theories and analysis methodologies that are relevant to a wide variety of academic disciplines and to the conclusions of feminist research. Both study tracks integrate the analysis of social and cultural transformation marked by migrations and global diversity. The professional study track focuses on applying all that gained knowledge to the labour market, paying special attention to gender equality policies and the European guidelines. All these aspects of the Master's Programme were assessed by the Spanish daily "El Mundo" which decided to include it in its "Top 250 Masters" ranking of Spanish Master's Programmes in 2011.

Furthermore, this Master gives access to the Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies (120 ECTS credits), approved by the European Commission in 2006. The Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree in Women's and Gender Studies (GEMMA) has been the first and only programme in receiving funding from the EU and they both share the first year programme.
