The CIE supports Internationalization

International mobility is a key element concerning university education in the 21st Century. The University of Oviedo, through the Campus of International Excellence, has developed different activities to promote mobility of teaching staff, students and university staff, promote double and joint degrees with foreign universities listed in the international rankings, work on the development of bilingual degrees and attract visiting professors.

Subsidies for Excellence Mobility and visiting professors

The University of Oviedo has opened a call for subsidies aimed at professors of the Asturian academic institution staying at universities listed among the top 200 universities in the international rankings, and subsidies for professors coming from foreign universities to teach at the University of Oviedo for periods between one and three months. These programmes are very successful. In 2010, almost 500 professors, double than in 2008, stayed at foreign universities.

Bilingual programme

Language training is one of the main projects of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Oviedo. The project Ad Futurum has promoted the offer of subjects taught in English in undergraduate and graduate courses.

In 2010 The Faculty of Economics and Business and the Jovellanos Faculty of Commerce, Tourism and Social Sciences started a bilingual programme based on teaching in English. This initiative has meant an increase of 30% of subjects given in English, reaching a total of 190 subjects.

For the academic year 2011-2012 the University will offer 10 bilingual itineraries related to the degrees in Business Administration and Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Commerce and Marketing, Tourism, Industrial Chemical Engineering and Software Engineering. Master's Degrees: 17 programmes will be bilingual (four of them will be given fully in English)
